Hawaiian Massage

Sacred and deeply restorative touch

Loving head, heart & hands

Hawaiian massage is a sacred art form of massage that is characterised by continuous long flowing strokes and rhythm. Natalie is trained in both Traditional Old Style Lomi Lomi and Kahuna massage, the latter involving more forearms and underbody strokes.

Lomi Lomi means to knead and make soft through a loving touch. In reality, sometimes Lomi Lomi is actually Kahuna massage and vice versa. Whatever the name, you can be sure the massage will work gently yet deeply into the muscles, activating meridians and energy points, releasing tension and energetic blocks, and allowing the body’s own healing processes to take over.

The constant long strokes in Hawaiian massage are designed to help the body let go of its patterns and tension. And the hypnotic rhythm acts to bring the mind to a place of absolute stillness. It's transformative due to the deep relaxation and surrender that allows the nervous system to fully rest and the body to self-organise for optimum health. It's a deep body meditation and sessions are normally 2 hours or longer.

Hawaiian massage is often different to what is out there on the high street. People find it's less clinical and diagnostic, more intuitive and supporting life force to flow through the whole body. The benefits of Lomi Lomi are reported on both the physical and energetic levels. It excels at giving a sense of wholeness and wholesomeness, allowing one's true essence to come forth.

During a Lomi Lomi or Kahuna massage, clients are asked to be fully undressed on the table with a sarong and modesty towel respectfully covering the parts of the body that aren't being massaged. If this is uncomfortable for you, underwear can be left on. Blankets, hot oil and a warm room are always present. Lots of coconut oil nourishes the body during a Lomi Lomi and Kahuna massage and hot towels are available at the end of the massage to wipe away excess oil.

It is best to avoid eating food upto 2 hours prior to the massage. Where possible, please come to your appointment freshly showered and with no strong scents (perfumed lotions, deodorants, aftershaves) on. Please note, I am unable to work with anyone who has a smell of smoke on them; if this is the case on the day you will be offered a refund.
